DAY OF RE-UNION | Arafah Gathering of Remembrance and Potluck Iftar

Arafah is the pinnacle of the annual pilgrimage to Mecca, Hajj, on which all the pilgrims walk to the Mountain of Arafah, a sacred land that holds significant historical and spiritual meaning in the Islamic spiritual tradition. Pilgrims engage during this day in intimate conversation with God and deep prayer, the entire day until sunset. Whilst, the rest of Muslims are called to fast on this day and unite with the pilgrims in prayer.

Souls, standing side by side, engaged deeply in reaching Divine Presence and connection to The One. Nothing could shift their attention from The One, the ultimate longing for closeness to God, for Union, or rather Re-Union. Our soul’s journey started in this very moment, in witnessing The Creator of Humanity as The One and has been trying to come back to this very moment. This is why we have named our Arafah day program, Re-union day.

It has been our annual tradition at the Rhoda since our starting days in the basement of Marchand Street to mark this day of reunion with a community gathering of prayers, and iftar (shared meal after the day’s fast).
